County roundup: Presentation planned for state Route 44 improvements in Rootstown

The state Route 44 corridor project that would give a facelift to the area in Rootstown from Tallmadge Road to Dollar General continues to be looked into. Engineering firm OHM Advisors conducted a recent study on the topic; OHM will present its findings, including community-survey results, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at Rootstown Middle School at 4190 State Route 44.

Mantua Township road crews are out patching potholes and replacing and repairing street signs. This winter has been brutal for infrastructure, but the service is determined to get the roads back to satisfactory condition very soon. Preparations are also being made to get the cemeteries and ballfields spruced up for spring visitors and youth baseball, respectively.

Rootstown The planning stages of the state Route 44 project in Rootstown are underway. Paris The Paris Township Fire Department recently received two grants. One was from the EMS for $4,093.50 to purchase a new cot battery and a new EMS bag, and also to update the department’s air equipment (the boards for the department’s C-PAP). The other was from the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council/The Cleveland Foundation for $8,080 to purchase 12 new MARCS pagers.
