Rootstown
The Rootstown Historical Society/Peacemaker Designs donated to the township trustees a wooden flag with the Rootstown 250 coin (front and back) in it. The flag will hang in the Township Hall.
“It’s pretty cool,” township Trustee Dave McIntyre said.
The downtown building that has the mural on it at the corner of Tallmadge Road and state Route 44 was purchased. The building will be renovated. Potentially, the new owner will put in a coffee shop or ice cream shop. The mural will stay.
The pickleball courts at Rootstown Community Park should be completed in the next couple weeks.
Edinburg
Edinburg Township recently purchased a used (2023 or 2024) ambulance from a township in California for approximately $165,000. The vehicle is getting re-lettered, etc., and will be put into service soon. The old ambulance will likely be sold at auction.
Edinburg’s annual Trunk-or-Treat will be on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Edinburg Township Park.
Paris
Boy Scouts Adain Campbell and Ryan Streem from Edinburg Scout Troop 558 repainted the World War II Memorial at the Hawley Cemetery.
“It needed refurbished,” township Co-chair Dave Kemble said.
Trick-or-Treat and Trunk-or-Treat in Paris will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, with the latter at the Shearer Community Center at 9355 Newton Falls Rd.
