Jeanette and Jim Doerfler hosted a picnic for former classmates at their home in Streetsboro. The event was to welcome former Ravennan Donna Bocanelli Snyder for a visit from her home in Reno, Nev. Donna flew in with her daughter, Carol, to visit with sister-in-law Lena Bocanelli for a week.

So many things happening! The Salvation Army of Portage County had its annual Kettle Kick-off on Nov. 10 at the Christian Life Center on Summit Road.
The Ravenna High School class of 1957 celebrated their 65-year reunion. It was held in July at the West Main Street Winery in Ravenna and catered by Guido’s. Twelve classmates and spouses attended from as far away as Florida. Another gathering is planned for Dec. 28.

The Immaculate Conception monthly spaghetti dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 in the parish hall, 251 W. Spruce Ave., Ravenna.
“The Real Italian Club Spaghetti Dinner” will be held April 28 at the Ravenna Eagles Club. The original kitchen crew from the past from the Ravenna Italian-American Society will be preparing their famous spaghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m., while supplies last.
David Nagella, formerly of Ravenna, and wife Candy came from Texas for a short visit in April. Since he has a lot of family in this area, we Nagellas got together for breakfast so we could all visit with the couple.

The Rev. Carl Kish is being honored with a retirement reception on Sunday, June 25, beginning with celebration of Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Cortland. The reception will follow from noon to 4 p.m. After 61 years as a priest in the Diocese of Youngstown, Rev. Kish is retiring on July 1. Friends and former parishioners are all invited to attend.

I attended a lovely baby shower on July 23 for Meredith Litzinger. It was held at Byers’ Castle on South Prospect Street in Ravenna.
