It’s a good time to meet and enjoy your friends and make some new ones.
Virginia Goodell celebrated her 100th birthday with a great party on Dec. 31. It was a packed open house at Portage Faith United Methodist Church in Mantua.
She has been a very active lady. You may remember her guided bus tours and monthly pancake breakfasts with the Goodell maple syrup.
She also taught piano lessons, volunteered at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna and wrote a monthly column for the Record-Courier for many years.
In addition, she also taught school!
It’s not too late to send her a card at 10220 Peck Road, Mantua, OH 44255.
At the above spaghetti dinner last month, Diane Blayne noted she was sitting with a lot of Dudeks. I saw Helen Dudek and her sons as well as Emmie Haiflich, who was helping serve spaghetti.
Diane was fun to talk with and also brought a copy of her wedding clipping from 1974. I thought you might like to read it and see if you know any of these names:
MASS EXODUS
When Diane Radzimski married Jim Blayne recently in Bedford, there was a mass exodus of her Ravenna relatives to attend the festivities.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Radzimski was born in Ravenna and lived on West Riddle Avenue until about 15 years ago.
Among the Ravennans who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Nienaltowski and Dan; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Tennant and children; the Joseph Dudeks, the Frank Dudeks, the Vernon Smiths, Mrs. Don Cherry and her children, the Don Copacs and their offspring. Also Emmie and Marc Haiflich and their children.
The day following the wedding there was more excitement – Carol Kuzias, the bride’s sister, gave birth to her first child, and the Radzimskis first grandchild.
