Save the date: Sept. 23. The Auxiliary of University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna will host “Fun, Fashion and Friends” at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center.

The hardworking Auxiliary will also be celebrating its 80th anniversary. The event will begin with a brunch at 10:30 a.m. Fashions will be featured for the entire family.

Immaculate Conception Parish held its annual Card Party on June 27 to a full house of card/game players. It is always a big hit with many people attending. Of course, the food is always plentiful and delicious.

This year for dessert, something different — pie!

They also had a basket and 50/50 drawing. From the sounds of laughter and chatter, I think everyone had a great time.

Keep your eyes on the Portage County Historical Society. They are starting extensive work on their grounds and their historic Carter House. The museum will continue to be open.

I recently attended the graduation party of my nephews — twins Gavin and Garit Green. The party was hosted by their parents, Megan and Justin Green, and brother Ashton.

The APCO facility was packed with friends and relatives — it was great to visit with everyone or almost everyone.

Special guests were Larry and Debbie Green, who traveled from North Carolina, and Bill and Beth Stone from Ravenna. It was a beautiful day and the APCO building the perfect place to hold it.

Gavin has started an apprenticeship with S.A. Communale and Garit is pursuing firefighter/paramedic training. Both boys graduated with honors from Field High School. They were both active in sports and helped Field win District in baseball.

Good luck, boys!
