Brimfield has not had a public library in almost a decade. That will change soon. The township had a bid opening for a renovation project for a new library.

Many Aurora residents were delighted at the surprise announcement from Aurora City Hall of a plan to buy and revive the south side of Geauga Lake, praising the city’s move to preserve the lakefront as a public asset.

The 14th Annual Kent Blues Fest presented by Wayside Furniture takes place Saturday, July 15, offering free live music by more than 40 acts at 27 venues throughout Kent. The all-day music extravaganza starts at 1 p.m. and goes until after midnight at restaurants, bars, bookstores and outdoor parks.
Early voting starts July 11 at the Portage County Board of Elections, 449 S. Meridian St., Ravenna. On Aug. 8, Election Day, polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
