The state Route 44 corridor project that would give a facelift to the area in Rootstown from Tallmadge Road to Dollar General continues to be looked into. Engineering firm OHM Advisors conducted a recent study on the topic; OHM will present its findings, including community-survey results, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at Rootstown Middle School at 4190 State Route 44.

The Rootstown Lions Club will be putting up banners downtown honoring local veterans leading up to Memorial Day on Monday, May 26. The banners will have the veterans’ names and photos on them.
The federal government’s efforts to remove immigrants seems to be gaining steam at Kent State University, which now tallies the number of international students whose visas have been revoked at 10.
Paris’ annual community “Spring Clean Up” will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 10 at the Shearer Community Center at 9355 Newton Falls Rd. The drop-off event is open to township residents only, and proof of residence is required.
Mantua Township road crews are out patching potholes and replacing and repairing street signs. This winter has been brutal for infrastructure, but the service is determined to get the roads back to satisfactory condition very soon. Preparations are also being made to get the cemeteries and ballfields spruced up for spring visitors and youth baseball, respectively.
Rootstown The planning stages of the state Route 44 project in Rootstown are underway. OHM, an engineering and architectural firm the township hired to guide it, will soon be holding a community meeting for any of its proposals. “We’re looking at widening the road, putting in roundabouts, redeveloping that whole area to make traffic flow better and have a better use of land,” township Trustee Dave McIntyre said. Paris The Paris Township Fire Department recently received two grants. One was from the EMS for $4,093.50 to purchase a new cot battery and a new EMS bag, and also to update the department’s air equipment (the boards for the department’s C-PAP). The other was from the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council/The Cleveland Foundation for $8,080 to purchase 12 new MARCS pagers.
