County roundup: Rootstown event lights up the season

- Roger Gordon

Rootstown

Rootstown’s annual “Light It Up” event took place Dec. 6 adjacent to Town Hall and the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ right in the center of town.

“The whole center of town was lit up,” township Chair Dave McIntyre said. “Even though it was cold, there was a good turnout, a couple hundred people.”

Besides Santa Claus making an appearance, there were games, face painting, hot dogs, cookies and hot cider. Kids also dropped off letters to Santa in the mailbox.
