Hello Windham family! Post-Labor Day in Bomber Country always seems to be a turning point or symbolic start of a new year. Some of us feel a bit restless – anticipating the change of season, but not really feeling it yet (because the weather has still been hot), and many of us feel energized – ready to embrace the coming autumn and feeling a sense of renewal.
Hello Windham Family! August is one of my favorite times of year in Bomber Country. Fall sports are kicking off, back to school is on its way and signs of autumn are on the horizon.

A fundraising event for Elliot Thompson and his family, put on by the Windham softball community was held June 22 and 23. Elliot is coach for the 14U team in Windham and has been very active in our local softball program. Elliot had a massive stroke recently. He is in the Cleveland Clinic at the time I wrote this.
Windham is getting banking services! Middlefield Bank is partnering with the Renaissance Family Center to bring back banking services to Windham.
Wow! The Windham area was hit by a violent storm/tornado! I am very blessed; my houses and buildings are fine.

Windham Schools were selected as a 2023 “Fields of Excellence” Award winner by Pioneer Athletics. More than 9,000 places applied and Windham was one of six selected from Ohio, including three schools, two minor league teams and one university.
I am always thrilled when a new business comes to Windham. Our new business is the Lemon Zest Smile. It is an ice cream business that has unusual, exciting new ice cream flavors that are available in both cones and bowls.
The Windham Police Department has a unique way to provide gifts for children in need. Officers will be providing individuals a “Warning for Christmas Morning” voucher instead of a traffic citation.

The third annual Windham/James A. Garfield Marathon Veterans Day half marathon was held on Nov. 12. The races started and ended at the Windham High School, which is next to Camp James A. Garfield (formerly Ravenna Arsenal).
There will be a spaghetti benefit dinner for 14-year-old Cairo Serenity Svonavec on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Windham Community Center; the dinner is sponsored by the Windham American Legion.
