Over three years after the death of local newspaper editor Roger Di Paolo, the prolific Kent chronicler now has a headstone. But leave it to Di Paolo to shake things up — the headstone is at his feet.

Atwater Township is chip-and-sealing German Church Road and Bank Street and is fog sealing Laubert Road. Fog sealing helps to seal small cracks in pavement and prevents water from penetrating the surface, which can cause damage over time. Also, township road workers have begun underdrain work in the Hillcrest Allotment to correct water drainage issues.

A “little” rain doesn’t faze Charlestown. It rained on and off all morning and early afternoon Saturday, Aug. 3, as set up for the 21st Annual Charlestown Summer Festival and Cruise In was completed. Then, right on cue the rain stopped, the sun came out at 3 p.m. and the festival commenced as planned.

The King Kennedy Community Center in Ravenna built a new gymnasium in 2022 with financial support from the county, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Portage County, Neighborhood Development Services and the First Congregational Church of Ravenna.
Rural Relief Mobile Food Pantry is going on hiatus
A nonprofit mobile food pantry announced July 30 that its operations will be put on hold “due to health issues and financial support shortcomings.”
