Charlestown residents recently participated in the “One Mile for the 22” walk. Spearheaded by Portage County Auditor Matt Kelly, the event is a one-mile walk intended to draw attention to the heartbreaking statistic that every day in the U.S. there are 22 veterans who lose their life to suicide.

Charlestown Township’s Annual Memorial Day Parade and Service will be held Sunday, May 25 with the parade stepping off at 11a.m. and proceeding to the cemetery where a short service will take place.

It’s Spring! That means that the Easter Bunny will be making his annual visit to Charlestown for the Easter Egg Hunt. The Bunny will arrive at the township park on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. to kick off the hunt. There will be a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny. If the weather is a problem the location will be moved to the fire station.

A “little” rain doesn’t faze Charlestown. It rained on and off all morning and early afternoon Saturday, Aug. 3, as set up for the 21st Annual Charlestown Summer Festival and Cruise In was completed. Then, right on cue the rain stopped, the sun came out at 3 p.m. and the festival commenced as planned.
