This is for Charlestown residents only, and proof of residence is required. Items NOT accepted are tires, paint, computers, batteries, AC units, chemicals and household garbage.
The Memorial Day Parade and Service will be held Sunday, May 24. The parade will step off at 11 a.m. and proceed to the cemetery on Newton Falls Road for the service. Guest speaker will be Portage County Auditor Matt Kelly, who enlisted in the Air Force in 1990 and served during Operation Desert Storm. He then continued his service in the Ohio Air National Guard, where he served as a firefighter until his retirement in 2013. He served two deployments to Iraq as well as to Mississippi in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Matt is a passionate advocate for veterans and community causes.
All are welcome to join in the parade. Parade line-up begins at 10:15 a.m. at the township park. You may decorate a float, car, motorcycle, etc. in patriotic colors.
