Around Garrettsville: Summer plans shaping up, plus Easter details, garage sales and more

The Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a wine tasting/craft/artisan show on Main Street from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 27. We are currently looking for crafters interested in participating in this fun event. Come out and listen to music, sip wine (in the designated DORA area) and sell your crafts.

The Garrettsville Curtains up Theatre is holding auditions for “Steel Magnolias” on April 30 and May 2 at 7 p.m. in the James A. Garfield Iva Walker Auditorium.

No monologue required. This is not a musical production. All female cast. For more information, contact director Justin Steck 216-310-1913. The show runs July 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20.

July 6 is the big day to view the opening of the Garrettsville time capsule. The James A. Garfield Historical Society is opening the 1924 capsule. Watch for the fun event taking place on High Street the day of the opening.

Their hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.


The Easter bunny is coming — the St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt for children at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23. In addition to the free egg hunt, the Youth Group will host a pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children and children younger than 2 eat free. The breakfast and egg hunt will take place at St. Ambrose Church in Garrettsville.
