Around Garrettsville: Get your spring cleaning done before garage sale days

Garage Sale Weekend is just around the corner, May 17-19 is the big weekend to join all the other garage sellers. You can now register online at 44231.org/shop. There is also a form in The Villager.


Sip N Shop on Main Street is a wine tasting/craft/artisan show on Main Street in Garrettsville this summer, from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 27. We are currently looking for crafters interested in participating in this fun event. Come out listen to music, sip wine (in the designated DORA area) and sell your crafts.

Profits from this event will be put toward the beautification of Garrettsville.

A benefit event for Sam McGarvey is being held at 7p.m. Saturday May 18 at the Skylane Bowling Alley in Garrettsville.

There will be a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. There is a $15 cover charge with one $100 door prize. Music will be provided by The Arrow Band.

Anyone who would like to donate for the silent auction can drop off their item to Aaron King at Skylane Bowling Alley. Any monetary donations can be sent directly to Sam at his P.O. The Garrettsville Curtains up Theatre is holding auditions for “Steel Magnolias” at 7 p.m. on April 30 and May 2 in the James A. Garfield Iva Walker auditorium. No monologue required. This is not a musical production. All female cast. For more information, contact director Justin Steck at 216-310-1913. The show runs July 12, 13, 14, 19 and 20.


Car seat safety check — The Portage County Health Department will be at the Garrettsville Branch of the Portage County District Library from 10 a.m. to noon on April 16 to check the safety of new and existing car seats.
