Two Southeast teachers set to retire this year

The Southeast Board of Education on Monday accepted the retirement of intermediate school teacher Valerie Kotlar, effective Sept. 1. Kotlar has been with the district for 16 years.

The board also noted the retirement of band director Joni Stoll, who has served the district for 20 years. Stoll’s retirement is effective June 1.

Other actions:

  • The board named Lee Lovejoy as the district’s head baseball coach. Robert Romito will serve the team as a volunteer assistant coach.
  • The board also approved College Credit Plus partnerships with Youngstown University and the University of Akron. Under CCP, high school students who qualify may attend college, earning tuition-free college credits.
  • Southeast’s junior class got a funding boost for the 2021 prom with a $1,025 donation from Pettigrew’s Hardware.
