Hello Bomber Family! My name is Nicole (Spencer) Sweet, and I will be your new column writer for “Around Windham.” As a lifelong Windham resident, it is an honor to update you with all the current events and items of interest along with accomplishments, achievements and general interest items such as births, weddings, engagements, anniversaries, reunions, vacations, graduations, sporting events, etc. of my fellow Windhamites.
I graduated from Windham High School in 2007. I attended Hiram College and earned a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in marketing with a communication minor in 2011. In 2012, I married my high school sweetheart Joshua Sweet; after his graduation from NEOMED with a doctorate in pharmacy, we settled down in Windham Township, building our dream home and are now raising our three boys back to the roots we both grew up with.
I am an active member in the community and love to give back in any way I can.
I coached cheerleading at Windham High School for three years before having my children. I am currently volunteering as the vice president of the Windham Youth Baseball & Softball Organization and the director of cheerleading operations for the Windham Youth Football & Cheerleading Organization. I work full-time at Pally Roofing, a local roofing company, as the office manager. I also grew up in the Windham United Methodist Church. I love to volunteer with community events and promote all things great about our small town!
I look forward to keeping the community up to date with all the information I receive. Please contact me with any information you may like featured. The Around Windham column runs on the third Friday of each month, and I will need all information the week prior. You may contact me via text or call at 330-283-2711 or via email at [email protected]. Thank you!

We would like to welcome our new superintendent, Michael Dobran, to the Windham Exempted Village School District! The Windham Exempted Village School District Board of Education announced the appointment of Michael Dobran as the district’s next superintendent, effective Aug. 1.
Dobran’s career in education spans more than two decades, during which he has served in various capacities that have uniquely prepared him for the challenges and opportunities of leading Windham Exempted Village School District. Dobran holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hiram College and a Master of Educational Administration from Ashland University.
Beyond academics, Dobran’s contributions extend to the athletic arena, where he has served as both head baseball coach and assistant football coach, instilling values of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
“Dobran’s appointment reflects our commitment to selecting a superintendent who embodies the core values of collaboration and teamwork, integrity, authenticity, professionalism, accountability, as well as effective communication,” said board President Mandy Minnick. “His personable demeanor, student-centered leadership style and decisive approach to problem-solving make him the ideal candidate to lead our district into the future.”
