An independent investigator concluded that Mantua Police Chief Joseph Urso violated police department policies by directly supervising an officer with whom he is in a romantic relationship, according to a March 22 report.
The township approved a zoning resolution that will allow access to charging stations for electric cars in residential and commercial areas.
I did the best I could to use my time off between jobs wisely; I tried to get to all those things that there just never seems to be enough time to do. Of course, I didn’t get to all of them, but I did knock one big one off the list — I painted the living room.

I will turn 55 years old in a little more than a week. That’s partly a statement of fact, partly how could I possibly be 55 years old? In a lot of ways, I still feel 25. In other ways, I feel 125.
Portage County is among the worst counties in Ohio for housing affordability, with residents spending a higher percentage of their income on their rent and other housing costs, according to a recently released U.S. Census Bureau report.

When money’s tight, people don’t experience food insecurity alone. Their pets do, too. The new Doggie Bags program provides dog and cat food to pet owners experiencing food insecurity.
Based on community need and current income, the Village of Hiram decided to lay off a police officer.

Director Michael Hlad reported that renovations at Circle K had been completed, and he had received drawings for Joe’s BBQ Restaurant. Hlad also reported that Copper Creek Apartments had been granted an extension by the zoning board. The complex is adding two more buildings plus parking garages.

Two educators with ties to Kent State’s beloved Child Development Center announced they will open a new school for young children in Kent’s historic South End neighborhood.
All eligible voters in Portage County should be aware that another voter purge has occurred in Ohio. More than 1,600 voters in our county have been removed from the voter register. This could be for many reasons, including no voting activity in the past four years, incorrect addresses on the official record, etc.

J. Derthick updated the trustees on the Hankee Road culvert project. The culvert pipe arrived and is in place. It arrived on six trucks! Base gravel is now being installed.
