City of Ravenna is seeking Charter Review Commission members

- Natalie Wolford ,

The city of Ravenna is looking for registered Ravenna voters to apply for the city’s Charter Review Commission for 2022.

The charter is the legal document that articulates the set of laws that make up the foundation of the city’s governmental procedure and organization, and defines the powers of elected officials.

Ravenna reviews its charter every five years, and the commission will be appointed in January 2022. Members of the commission are unpaid and cannot be an elected official or an immediate family member of an elected official.

The commission will submit any changes to the city council for approval, and approved changes will appear on the November 2022 ballot.

The charter can be found at ravennaoh.gov and residents interested in applying can email Council Clerk Chelsea Gregor at chelsea.gregor@ravennaoh.gov .

Around Ravenna: Warm up with these community events coming up this month

- by Angie Reedy. - by The 39th annual Celebration of Lights was held in December at the University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, hosted by the hospital’s Auxiliary. It was a successful evening and the committee wants to thank everyone who came, donated money or helped in any way for their participation, and especially Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes for its sponsorship.
