The Portage County Board of Elections released the unofficial final results of the May 2 election, which saw a voter turnout of about 14% and a total of 5,029 ballots cast.
The township will be getting a new website. The trustees voted to change the domain name to nelsonTWPOH.gov to take advantage of .gov services, per Cihan’s recommendation. The new site should be accessible by next week.
Cihan completed a NOPEC (Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council) grant application and received an acknowledgement that it had been received by the deadline. Approval is pending.

Mr. “Ed” Eakin may have his home demolished after Zoning Inspector Jackie Kable had mailed him both a certified and non-certified letter to his mailbox regarding the upcoming demolition of his home. He has not responded. She emphatically stated, “You are going to come home someday and your house is going to be gone … you need to talk to us.”
A psychological evaluation has found 18-year-old Zachary Blosser competent to stand trial in the death of his girlfriend, Kaylee Freitag, who was shot to death in Nelson Township in March.
