Around Edinburg: A special thank you to those who serve, plus news of upcoming Edinburg events

I’d like to start this month by thanking two important groups. Veterans Day is acknowledged every November, and veterans have one of the most important jobs in our country. Thank you for all your dedication and service.

As I’ve mentioned in previous columns, I have been a precinct election official for the past two elections and want to thank the community of Edinburg for showing up to cast its ballot. No matter how you voted or what your opinions are on the issues, more than 50% of our small community took the time to vote that day, in addition to people who voted early.

Music Boosters for Southeast Pirates will be holding their annual Holiday Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 in the Southeast High School cafeteria. Admission is free, and there will be crafters, vendors, concessions, carolers, raffle baskets and more. All proceeds benefit the music programs for Southeast Schools. The high school is located at 8423 Tallmadge Rd.

Music Boosters for Southeast Pirates also have another great fundraiser running to help fund the music program, and this one is a fruit fundraiser. There are several kinds of citrus, pears, apples, pineapple and combo baskets to select from for yourself or as a holiday gift. All orders will be delivered to the school between Dec. 11 and 13, and customers will be contacted for pickup. Visit their website to order at https://sepiratesmusic.fwffb.net/products.asp by Nov. 20 – and thank you for your support.

Midnight Madness in Ravenna is coming up soon — the Friday after Thanksgiving — from 5 to 10 p.m. Nov. 24. The event will kick off with the Balloon A-Fair Light-up Parade.
Other events include Santa visits, a Christmas tree lighting, ice carvings, horse and carriage rides, elf workshop, and holiday raffle — and local businesses will all be open with great holiday offers.

My book shop, Books a Go Go, will be set up at Bean and the Baker Coffee Shop that evening with holiday specials, so stop out to say hello and support all of the other local businesses that do such a great job offering products and services to our community.

I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving this year!

Don’t forget to send information to my email at [email protected] by the second Wednesday of the month to be included in the column — and thank you.
