Around Charlestown: 2023 events announced and best wishes to Linda Dehaven

Best wishes are in order to Linda (Dreman) Dehaven who is retiring from her job as the custodian of Charlestown Town Hall.

She has been a dedicated part-time employee of Charlestown Township for 35-40 years. It’s been so long she doesn’t really remember the exact year!

If you have ever rented the town hall for a shower, birthday party or reunion then you have met Linda. She has always done a wonderful job of keeping the hall clean and neat at all times. Linda is already retired from her full-time employment and is now looking forward to not being tied to her phone and rental schedule.

Enjoy your retirement, Linda, you deserve it!

Plans are already underway for the Charlestown Summer Festival on Saturday, Aug. 5. As part of the entertainment, this year we would like to hold a “Charlestown’s Got Talent” contest showcasing the special talents of our residents, but first we need to find out if we have enough interested participants.

The contest is open to both the young and the old… anyone who would like to show off their talent! Are you a singer, a dancer or a gymnast? Can you play an instrument or perform a magic act? You must supply your own background music if needed and a cash prize will be awarded to the winner.

If you are interested in participating you need to send an email to cgtcontest23@gmail.com NO LATER than April 1, and leave your name, contact number and the talent you will be presenting. A committee member will get back to you if we have enough interested people.
