For our October Leadership Portage County session, the class took an all-day tour of Portage County. Traveling together by bus, the trip helped the class of 2023 gain a better understanding of some of the most important places in this 504-square-mile county we call home.

The annual Race for Education fundraiser helps the Walls School Association sponsor field trips, equipment for recreation and arts, software subscriptions and more. This year’s fundraiser has already surpassed last year’s efforts.

Hundreds of Amish men from Geauga County and surrounding areas carried a 35,000-pound barn by hand to relocate it about 200 feet on the property of a Welshfield business owner Oct. 11.

Safer Futures held its 12th annual Hope in a Handbag fundraising event on Friday at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center, where guests bid on designer purses to support Portage County’s only domestic violence shelter.
