It’s another busy week, lots of live music to look forward to. Kent’s own Marilyn DeFrange is hosting a podcast that airs every month on YouTube. Her interviews with Kent musicians Terry Hynde (Episode 7), Guy Pernetti (Episode 6) and John Stacey (Episode 4) are worth watching. Other episodes center on her own performances. October’s installment should drop any day now: tune into her HomeSong Podcast channel on YouTube to see what she’s up to now.
This week includes two Oktoberfests, one in Kent and one in Ravenna. Both are scheduled for Oct. 10. Main Street Kent presents Kent Oktoberfest from noon to 8 p.m. in downtown Kent. The live music lineup includes Polka with Patty C and The Guys from noon-2 p.m., The Jack Fords from 3-5 p.m. and Country Honk from 6-8 p.m. The German Family Society Dancers will perform at 1 and 2 p.m. All performances are at the Hometown Bank Plaza.
In Ravenna, O.U.R. Place Open United Recovery is sponsoring Sober October Recovery Fest starting at 2 p.m. at the Ravenna Courthouse Square. Performers include the Rusty Zippers, Grizzled, 2Fluent, and Matt Keegan. The event is free but RSVP’s are requested through www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/sober-october-recovery-fest.
