Ravenna Township needs to decide how to spend half a million dollars. Any ideas?

Ravenna Township is in line for American Rescue Plan Act funds totaling $481,959. Now the question is how to spend it.

Trustees are determining if the funds can be used to build restrooms for the King Kennedy Community Center gymnasium building, and if the county commissioners might wish to partner with the township for the project. Patrons currently have to use restrooms at the King Kennedy Center next door.

Additional ideas are to partner with a local food bank for food distributions and to fund a meeting/training building the township is building on Spring Street.

Legal minds are reviewing each idea as there are strings attached to how ARPA funds can be spent. Trustees are in search of good project ideas, especially as the township will receive a second $481,959 ARPA infusion next year.

“It’s a considerable amount of money that could make a difference in this community,” Fiscal Officer Gail Pittman said.
