Indoor farmers’ market moving to a more central location

Kent’s Haymaker Farmers’ Market is open year-round, but it will be moving to new quarters.

The Market will open for its Winter Season in Hobbs Hall, 217 N. Mantua St. The space is owned by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent.

The market is closed on Dec. 24 and 31. It will reopen from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7 in Hobbs Hall. Parking is accessible via Gougler Avenue and North Mantua Street.

Since 2013, the Winter Market has been located in Pierson Hall at United Methodist Church of Kent. The new location, Market Manager Andrew Rome said, is closer to downtown and is a good fit for the market’s indoor needs.

“We are grateful to the Methodist Church for hosting us for the last nine years,” Rome said. “We are ready and excited to begin this new chapter.”

The market will return to its outdoor location under the Haymaker overpass in April.
