Eat some pancakes, support Atwater’s Old School Park

- Wendy DiAlesandro

Atwater trustees will host a free community pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon April 3 at the town hall. Though anyone can eat for free, guests are encouraged to make donations to benefit the Old School Park on Waterloo Road.

The park now has a football field, pavilion and small playground, but the township needs money for benches and other amenities to make the park more comfortable, Trustee Thora Green says.

Volunteers, including the trustees and fire department personnel, are working the event, with the goal of building community and at the same time doing some good for the park, Green said.

Anyone who would like to help or to donate money or items for the event should contact Trustee Charlie Harris at 330-858-9406 by March 21. Harris said they need plates, syrup, cutlery, disposable coffee cups and cups for juice and water. People willing to clean up are also needed.

The trustees meet at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at Atwater Town Hall. Meetings are livestreamed on Facebook.
