County roundup: Where in the world is the Atwater time capsule, plus news from Brimfield

- Roger Gordon

Atwater

The Waterloo High School Class of 1976 is trying to solve “The Time Capsule Mystery.” When the Atwater students of this class were in fifth grade, they buried a time capsule at the old Atwater school building. They believe it was buried next to a tree by the front of the building.

If anyone can help solve this mystery in order to possibly retrieve the capsule, contact Tonya Qualk at 330-428-1491.

Forty years ago, Liberty Bible Church at 2215 State Route 183 in Atwater planted its roots with a clear mission: to preach the word of God and shine a light in the community. Four decades later, on Saturday, July 11, the church will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a powerful theme: “Still Standing but Not Standing Still.” The church, which stands firm as an independent, fundamental, King James Bible-believing church, certainly is not standing still. It is constantly moving forward, filled with a spirit of joy and happiness in serving the Lord, singing the traditional hymns and growing together. The church’s purpose remains unchanged: leading people to Christ, helping them mature in faith and involving them in ministry. Whether you are looking for a church home, youth and children’s programs, or simply want to help celebrate this anniversary milestone, you are welcome to join in at the church.

Upcoming church calendar:

  • Sunday worship and children’s programs, 11 a.m.
  • Sunday evening and youth group, 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday evening Bible study, 7 p.m.

  • Tom Eland, Advanced EMT Class

  • Bailey Fumich, Certified Level II Firefighter
  • Kaleb Scott, Level II Firefighter (welcomed as a member of the department)

A reminder that there is a free lunch for children ages 1-18 from noon to 1 p.m. every Monday through Friday at Atwater Old School Park (no paperwork required).
