Can you believe we are halfway through 2026, Bomber Country? July is halfway over; this summer is flying by. July brings to mind feelings of warmth, relaxation, and celebration, and summer fun. Here are some exciting events and important information coming up in our little town for the end of July and beginning of August:
Christmas in July Event
Have you discovered Windham’s best-kept secret? Come visit Second Blessings Thrift Store, a nonprofit located in the Renaissance Building in Windham and celebrate our Christmas in July event.
You’ll find Christmas decorations, ornaments, holiday décor, unique gifts, and amazing bargains throughout the store. We also have home décor, books, household items, and new treasures arriving all the time.
Every purchase and donation helps us continue serving our community, so when you shop at Second Blessings, you’re making a difference. Stop in, say hello, and bring a friend! We’d love to meet you.
WYBSO 2nd annual Homerun Derby
You are invited to the second annual Homerun Derby at the Windham Park on July 25. Cost is $25 to enter into the derby. Winner receives a cash prize and championship trophy. The WYBSO board will be voting to rename Field 3 and the winning name will be announced during the event. Food & fun all day. See their Facebook page for more information.
Vacation Bible School
The Windham Calvary Chapel Silver Creek Church will be hosting Vacation Bible School July 29 through 31. Open for ages 4 through 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Renaissance Family Center.

Shepherds Joy Summer Revival
Two-day Family Revival Weekend (Welcome all families in Windham, Garrettsville, Newton Falls and surrounding areas)

4:30 to 8:30 p.m: Family Fun Day!
Does your family like to compete and play games? Bring your kids and have some fun as you play kickball, sack races, yard games, cornhole, bounce houses and more, plus hot dogs, snacks and refreshments.
8:30 p.m. & after: Family Camp-out
Does your family love to camp? Bring your tent and camp out, enjoy a bonfire, s'mores and songs.
Sunday, Aug. 9
10:30 a.m. to noon: Special Church Service
Join us for Sunday Service focused on faith in the family.This special message will inspire your family to build your faith together according to the Gospel of Christ.
Noon to 1 p.m. : Baptism
Are you or a family member ready to dedicate your life to Christ and be baptized? You and your family are welcome to join us at Shepherd's Joy for a special baptism service followed by lunch.

1974 football team HOF induction
The Windham High School Hall of Fame needs community help. On Sept. 18 at the football game that night, the 1974 Windham Bombers team of Coach Stan Parrish that reached the semi-finals of the state playoffs will be inducted as a team into the Hall of Fame.
The HOF is reaching out to the community to let as many players know about this honor, and who they can contact to be present that evening for the ceremony. Attached is the playoff roster, including coaches, and it is this group that will be inducted. If you were on that team, or have contact with anyone who was, would you please pass along word to contact Athletic Director Dougle Hankins at dhankins@windham-schools.org, or Principal Zack Burns at dburns@windham-schools.org.

Sunday market
Calling all vendors for the Sunday Market at Windham Fuel, 9790 E. Center St. on the first and third Sunday of each month now until Aug. 16. Set-up from noon to 1 p.m. Sales are held from 1 to 5 p.m. Whether you grow it, make it or resale it or offer services – you’re in. Cost is $10 for a 10x10 space. Windham Village Fun in the Sun
Mark your calendars for Sept. 12 starting at 2 p.m. for the annual Fun in the Sun. We’re looking for vendors and live entertainment to be part of this fun community event as we say goodbye to summer and welcome the fall vibes. Lions Club Sausage and Steak dates 2026
Save the dates for the upcoming Lions Club Sausage and Steak Booth weekends. Aug. 7 & 8, Sept. 11 & 12 and Oct. 2 & 3. Just $6 will buy you the best sausage or steak sandwich in Portage County. The trailer will be located on S.R. 303 in the parking lot next to Circle K. Open Fridays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Windham Lions Club has been serving the Windham community since 1955.
