Norman L. Christley

Norman Christley, the son of Frederick and Mary (Burns) Christley, brother of Edward Christley, passed peacefully surrounded by family, on Saturday, February 24. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lived most of his life in northeast Ohio. He was a talented high school quarterback at Wellington High School and attended college at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, as a mathematics major.

From there, he decided to go into law, completing his first year at Ohio State University and then finishing at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He received the highest grade in the State on the bar examination, the first student from Cleveland-Marshall to do so. Two weeks after graduating, he was drafted and served two years in the army, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Upon discharge, he began his law practice in Aurora, Ohio, which grew to become a well-respected and thriving practice for several decades. Afterwards, he retired to Black Brook Farm in Andover, Ohio, to manage his passion, a standardbred broodmare farm.

Norm is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer, Mary Jo (Nathan) and Anne (Michael), and seven grandchildren: Harrison, Ty, AJ, Carly, Kate, Jack and Emily, his nephew, Scott Christley, and his former wife, Judith. A private family memorial service will be held this summer on Lake Ontario, where Norm spent many happy hours fishing.
