The Main Street Mile is a curated, one-mile loop that encompasses the heart of Downtown Ravenna. The Mile travels along the designated Historic District, from Sycamore Street to Clinton Street, to engage visitors in business, history and health. The walk shows off the beautiful and historic architecture, encourages foot traffic to businesses, and helps participants get fresh air and exercise one-tenth of a mile at a time.
The Main Street Mile is a contribution to the entire community members can be a part of in any way they see fit. The hope is that utilization of the Mile, and the name, will help bring attention, recognition and community spirit to Ravenna. Local organizations, schools and businesses are encouraged to find ways to make the Mile fun, valuable and engaging. Most of all, we want to help their establishment grow and thrive. As a community, when you grow, we all grow.
Examples of Mile utilization could be “Christmas Walk on The Main Street Mile,” “First Friday Fun Walk” or even “Main Street Mile Dog Walk.” As far as the events along the Mile, the sky’s the limit. You can make the Mile anything you want it to be.
Additionally, the goal for the Mile is to create a fun and engaging walk. We want residents, organizations and businesses to be proud to be a part of the Mile. We also want to create an experience that will draw in visitors. With the use of QR codes, we will make historical information and facts easily accessible to Main Street Mile visitors. This will give them a better understanding of why our downtown and community are so unique.
The curation of The Main Street Mile has been set. Still, it is a community collaboration project that houses many organizations, residents and businesses that can all cultivate its growth and enhancement for the betterment of the community.
Downtowns are the heart of the community, and Ravenna houses a beautiful downtown Main Street. The Main Street Mile is eager to show you its distinctive qualities and greet your footsteps with its rich history and charm.
