County roundup: Rootstown chamber plans business expo, plus news from Edinburg and Paris

Rootstown

The 27th annual Rootstown Area Chamber of Commerce Business & Community EXPO will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at NEOMED’s NEW Center at 4209 state Route 44.

This event will feature several business vendors and is good for networking. It is open to businesses serving Rootstown and surrounding communities, including Summit, Stark, Cuyahoga and Trumbull counties. Admission is free.

Booth registration includes one 6-foot table, two folding chairs, and a fabric tablecloth and skirting. Electrical outlets are limited, so register early to secure your spot if you need electricity. Set-up will start at 8 a.m. Nov. 16. Student volunteers will be on hand to assist with unloading vehicles and locating your table.

Spaces are limited. Registration will end Friday, Oct. 25 but may end earlier if all spaces are reserved. Table registration fees are $45 for Chamber members, $55 for non-Chamber members and $35 for non-profit organizations (a small convenience fee will be added at check-out to cover electronic payment processing charge).

Rootstown’s Trick-or-Treat will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. The day before, on Saturday, Oct. 26, will be the Haunted Trail, a trunk-or-treat at Gracie Fields at 3540 Cook Rd.

Edinburg

The Edinburg Historical Society is drawing up maps, straightening up stones and doing some repair work on a volunteer basis at Edinburg Township Cemetery.


The township’s Trick-or-Treat will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. The same day from 1 to 3 p.m. will be Trunk-or-Treat at Edinburg Township Park.

Paris

Paris Township’s donation box is set up at the township fire department, ready to accept donations of Halloween candy and Halloween decorations for Trunk-or-Treat, which will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at the fire department, located at 9355 Newton Falls Rd. Food and drinks will be provided at Trunk-or-Treat. Those wishing to hand out candy at their homes are welcome to do so also from noon to 2 p.m. the same day.

Around Edinburg: Back to school and a special announcement

Several students from Southeast High School’s band and choir recently participated in the All-Ohio State Fair Band and Choir during the Ohio State Fair. Five of the choir members were also chosen to be Scarlet Singers and opened for the band Foreigner. Several alumni also made it back to perform with the band and choir as well.
