Around Windham: Grill and Chill for recovery with Hope Town

- Nicole Sweet

Hello Windham family!

Summer is here, Bomber Country. School is out, and the weather is so much warmer – we welcome June with open arms! Barbecues, bonfires and summer fun. Here are some exciting events and important information coming up in our little town:

Grill, Chill & Recover: A Community Recovery Event

Together we heal. Together we rise. Join Hope Town Ohio for an afternoon of community, connection and celebration of recovery. The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 27 at 9621 E. Center St. This is a free, family-friendly event, and all are welcome. Here’s what’s happening:

  • Grilling out with the Hope Town crew
  • Ice cream truck
  • 50/50 raffle
  • Photo booth
  • Games and cornhole
  • Kids area
  • Ted gets dunked

Special guest speaker will be Kyle Overmyer, former Sandusky County sheriff and now author of “Prison Prodigy: Power, Prison, & a Purpose Reborn.” Kyle shares a powerful message of hope, purpose and redemption. Also, there will be a live performance and testimony by 2 Fluent, an Akron-based R&B/hip-hop duo that shares their story through music, truth and recovery.

Everyone who attends is entered in a drawing to receive free entry to a Hope Town AI class. Real people. Real hope. Real change.

  • First-aid and farm safety
  • Bike and street sign safety

The program will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 27-31 at KT. Graduation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 31. Plan on attending graduation with your child. The Windham Church of the Nazarene is extending an open invitation to anyone who would like to spend an hour during their week for four nights to attend a revival service that will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 through Saturday, June 27. There will be an open potluck dinner at 4:30 p.m. in the dining hall prior to the Saturday revival service, with dinner wrapping up in time for the start of the last night of revival.
