The club invites the public to join the members as they all stroll through the decades of a century of the Thursday Literary Club.

Immaculate Conception Church is still hosting its spaghetti dinners at the parish hall, 251 W. Spruce Ave., Ravenna.

The next one will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21. Carry-out orders will be available and the dinner is open to the public. The menu includes spaghetti, meatballs, bread and butter, salad and pie, along with coffee or punch. Cost is $12 adults, $5 for children 5 to12 and free for children 4 and younger.

Come join all your friends!

The Friends of Reed Memorial Library will host their book sale from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, April 5 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at the library, 167 E. Main St., Ravenna.

This is a good time to stock up on your favorite authors and titles at such reasonable prices. See you there.

The Auxiliary of University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, along with the Chestnut Tree (Gift Shop), will host a “Spring Cleaning Sale” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 23, 24 and 25.

They will be selling fixtures, baskets, pots for flowers of all kinds, small tables and so much more.

This will be a great time to let your imagination run wild with opportunities to put items to good use and re-purpose them. The money will also go to a good cause.

I will write more about this sale, so plan to visit the hospital on these dates. More to follow on room numbers and items we are selling.

The next Ravenna Lions Club meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 at the Center of Hope in Ravenna. The meeting is open to anyone interested in finding out more about the Lions and how the members serve their community.

Around Ravenna: A Ravenna resident’s family journey through Germany

- by Angie Reedy .

Planes, trains and automobiles were part of a three-week vacation. Jack Trauth of Ravenna flew to London to visit his daughter, Karrie, and her wife, Angela. He and Karrie flew to Switzerland to meet his son, Jim, his wife, Mariana, and grandson Evan. Adding to the excitement of the outing were travel by a dual-gauge railroad, a cog rail, a zip line, a funicular (a cable railroad, especially one on a mountainside, where ascending and descending cars are counterbalanced) and a vintage paddle wheel boat.
