Kent City Council unanimously approved a resolution this week affirming that the right to vote is a fundamental democratic principle protected by law, and every citizen deserves to participate in elections free from intimidation or coercion.
The Supreme Court of Ohio has ruled that staff surveys Crestwood Local Schools distributed are public records and must be provided to anyone who wants to see them.

Citing concerns about intimidation, the U.S. Justice Department will send staff to Portage County to monitor for violations of voting rights laws, the agency said Tuesday.

Hiram council is overhauling the village’s zoning code, and a public hearing about it will be held Tuesday, Nov. 7 at Village Hall at 7108 Wakefield Rd. The key aspects that will be discussed are parts of Phase 1, including adding a mixed-use zoning code to the books and village council’s proposal of changing from a college research district to an institutional district.
