The Randolph-based food shelf is moving down the road

The Randolph-Suffield-Atwater Food Shelf will be leaving its current location on the grounds of St. Joseph Church in Randolph to move to its new home just east of the Knights of Columbus Hall on Waterloo Road.

The organization hopes to break ground soon and should be open for business by late summer, co-director Joan Trautman told The Portager. She added that daytime hours will be increased at the new location.

Intended for residents of Randolph, Suffield and Atwater, the food shelf provides 15-20 clients a week with groceries and toiletries, Trautman said.

The food shelf relies on a small army of volunteers, and construction — not to mention moving — is expensive. Anyone who wishes to donate to the organization’s building fund may contact Trautman at 330-807-5774 or use the mail drop box at the church. Donations should be directed to “RSA Food Shelf.”

The food shelf’s hours are 6-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Call 211, the United Way info line, to make an appointment, which is required to access the food shelf.

They also accept donations of food and toiletries.
