Streetsboro will hold a Remembrance Run on Sept. 11

- Wendy DiAlesandro ,

With the 20th anniversary of 9/11 fast approaching, Streetsboro is holding a 9.11-mile Remembrance Run. Streetsboro City Council approved legislation for the Run on Monday, setting the date for Sept. 11.

According to the legislation, the Remembrance Run “is an opportunity to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.” It is also a way for people to honor the city’s and the nation’s “first responders, heroes and innocent victims of the events of that fateful day and their families,” the legislation states.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to support the Remembrance Run may contact Streetsboro’s Police Association of Firefighters Association. If any funds remain after costs are settled, they will be split evenly between the two associations.

Registration will be handled by Streetsboro’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Around Ravenna: Warm up with these community events coming up this month

- by Angie Reedy. - by The 39th annual Celebration of Lights was held in December at the University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, hosted by the hospital’s Auxiliary. It was a successful evening and the committee wants to thank everyone who came, donated money or helped in any way for their participation, and especially Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes for its sponsorship.
