Streetsboro approves expansion of Woodside Lake campgrounds

- Wendy DiAlesandro ,

Streetsboro’s Woodside Lake Park is set to expand.

The city’s planning commission on Sept. 10 greenlighted Woodside’s proposal to add 62 RV camping sites, a central green with a fire pit and seven parking spaces near a planned playground and pavilion with a grilling area. The proposal also included the eventual addition of restrooms with shower stalls.

Woodside’s campground currently offers 250 camping sites on 100 acres off Elliman Road. A limited number of cabin rentals are also available.

The expansion will be sited on 39.5 acres adjacent to Woodside on Elliman Road. Woodside acquired the property last year.

In other news, the commission tabled Enbridge Gas’ bid to build a natural gas interconnect facility off Page Road, south of the Page/Bartlett Road intersection.

Such facilities safely transport natural gas from one pipeline to another. Enbridge’s proposal states that the facility would ensure that Streetsboro residents and businesses have the energy they need.

According to the plans Enbridge submitted to the city, the facility would include three buildings, each one about 200 square feet.

Varner: Maddalena’s in Kent offers authentic food, at-home feel

- by Simon Varner. - by Do you remember going to grandma’s house for a family dinner? The way it smelled, the way the adults chatted while you and the other kids laughed in front of a TV playing colorful cartoons. Most importantly, do you remember the food? I remember, and Mandy Yannucci, co-owner of Maddalena’s in Kent, remembers, too.
