Stampin’ Out Cancer fundraiser seeking vendors, participants

- Wendy DiAlesandro

Bikers for Boobs, a nonprofit based in Portage County, is looking for venues and people who wish to support Stampin’ Out Cancer, its summer-long fundraiser.

The organization raises money to support cancer patients and their families all year long, but always has a large summer event. Last year’s was a poker run, which tallied 820 bikes carrying 971 people and 1,316 total participants, including volunteers. Riders raised $103,737.04.

Proceeds benefit Stewart’s Caring Place in Fairlawn, which offers 150 non-medical support services to cancer patients and their family members or caregivers. Programs include mastectomy bras, wigs, counseling, food services, nutritional classes, reiki, yoga and more. There is never any charge to patients, their family members or their caregivers.

This summer, Bikers for Boobs will take the form of a summer-long ride or drive, said Ravenna Bikers for Boobs President Amy Hunting. The charity’s summer fundraiser is set for May 31 to Aug. 2, when anyone on two, three or four wheels can visit participating venues across Northeast Ohio. Online registration may be accessed at bit.ly/StampinOutCancer2025.

Participants will ride or drive to participating businesses, where employees will physically stamp their booklets. The riders (or drivers) must turn booklets in by Aug. 4. After calculating the number of tickets earned based on the number of stops that were stamped, organizers will enter those tickets into a drawing for cash and prizes.

On board so far in Portage County are Timmy’s New Milford Cafe, Hillside Tavern in Mogadore, The Pub in Kent, and Chuggers and Streets Tavern in Streetsboro. Additional businesses may sign up until May 2 by leaving a message at 330-203-1960. Hunting will return all calls. The venues must be open Saturdays, Sundays or both to participate.

Open registration for riders and drivers is from April 26 to Aug. 2 and includes entry into a grand prize drawing, a stamp booklet and free entry to the party. People who only wish to attend the party may register until Aug. 15. In Portage County, stamp booklets and T-shirts may be picked up at Hillside Tavern and Kent American Legion Post 496.

For more information about participating in the event, check out akronbfb2025socc.eventbrite.com or leave a message at 330-203-1960.

- by Lauren Cohen .

The Aurora VFW Post 2629 and the Knights of Columbus Council 14186 have been purchasing food for the Aurora Food Pantry for several years, donating over $36,000 of perishable food yearly as one of their community projects. But the need for assistance is growing.
