Solved: The mystery of the missing rhinoceros

- Staff Report

Many readers have been wondering about the disappearance of the “endangered animal” from his normal grazing ground in front of Scott Molders on state Route 43 in Kent.

Unfortunately the rhinoceros is awaiting some major surgery after recently being vandalized.

Glenn Russell, vice president of Scott Molders, emailed to let us know that the company’s rhino, named Earl, is awaiting repairs for damage to his leg, horn and ear.

The vandalism started several months ago, according to Russell, “harassing and tormenting him to the point of severe damage.”

“He plans to be back on his feet in the upcoming months,” Russell wrote. “Hopefully, people will learn to be gentle with him instead of being destructive.”

Soon you should be able to find Earl back at his usual place at 7180 State Route 43.

Captain Brady Day will return in July 2026
