Ravenna Lions raffle will support health programs

- Submitted ,

The Ravenna Lions Club is hosting a Trex Bench Raffle fundraiser. Proceeds support programs for pediatric cancer research, diabetes, hunger, environment and vision.

It takes 40,500 recycled plastic bags (500 pounds of recycled plastic) to make one bench, like the one being raffled.

In coordination with this, the Lions are collecting plastic bags from 10 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of each month at East Riddle Avenue and South Prospect Street (across from the First United Methodist Church) in Ravenna.

Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and will be available at the plastic collection tomorrow, at Tavern 1888 in Ravenna or by calling Lion Jill at 330-931-8028 or Lion Denise at 330-607-6964.

Winner will be drawn on the Ravenna Lions Club Facebook page once all the tickets are sold.

The Ravenna Lions Club meets at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays and welcomes new and prospective members.

A Trex bench like this one, made of recycled plastic, is being raffled by the Ravenna Lions Club.

Around Ravenna: Warm up with these community events coming up this month

- by Angie Reedy. - by The 39th annual Celebration of Lights was held in December at the University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, hosted by the hospital’s Auxiliary. It was a successful evening and the committee wants to thank everyone who came, donated money or helped in any way for their participation, and especially Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes for its sponsorship.
