Portage County obituaries for March 3-4

Donald Jeffrey Miller

Our hero D. Jeffrey “Jeff” Miller passed away peacefully at the age of 63, after his hard fought 8-year battle with brain cancer, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, with his family lovingly by his side. Born on August 27, 1961, in Ravenna, Ohio; he was a lifelong resident of Windham, Ohio.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Crews Miller; mother, Janet Priddy Miller; sister, Amy Miller Olson; children, Corey (Christina) Miller, Lauren (Justin) Miller, Mackenzie (Angel) Miller, Emily (Zakery) Rowe and Nicole (Joshua) Sweet; grandchildren, Elisabeth, Madison, DJ Miller, Ayla Corzine, Blake & Easton Miller, Teagan Goetz, Mackenzie Chaffin, Spencer, JJ & Noah Sweet; in-laws, Phillip & Sarah Crews and sister-in-law, Teresa (Jim) Hardgrove; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Miller; we know they are together playing 18-holes of golf, celebrating their reunion.

Jeff graduated from Windham High School in 1979, and he was a friend to every person he met. He had the ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. Jeff was always ready with a helping hand and a listening ear. Jeff was known to share one of his many stories over a cup of sugar with his coffee, offer support during difficult times, and simply brighten someone’s day with a smile. Jeff lived a life dedicated to connecting with others. He loved playing golf, bowling, hunting, fishing and he loved to sing and dance. Jeff was his children’s biggest teacher, mentor and coach and their number 1 fan; he never missed a single sport game or event and was always there to cheer and whistle them on. Jeff was a huge Cleveland Guardians and Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to umpire little league games. He will be remembered as a beloved son and brother, devoted husband, loving dad, and reliable friend; but Jeff’s best role was proud Papaw.

Jeff will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the entire community, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched and through the legacy of this humility he leaves and his cherished family. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Tamarack Ridge and Suma Hospice for loving Jeff so fiercely the last six months.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Windham United Methodist Church, 9051 N. Main Street, Windham, Ohio. Visitation starts at 12:00 pm followed by the Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm. After the service, friends and family are invited to gather for a luncheon to share fond memories and stories together and celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Windham Youth Baseball and Softball Organization to WYBSO P.O. Box 391, Windham OH 44288.
