Donna Jean Mattmuller
Donna Jean Mattmuller (née Miller), age 98, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, in Anna Maria Nursing Home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born to Harold and Alice Miller, Donna grew up in a close‑knit family with her brothers Wallace, Russell, and John, each of whom shaped her early life with the same steady kindness she later became known for.
Donna graduated from Aurora High School in 1946 and went on to earn her B.S. in Education from Ohio Northern University in 1950. She devoted 18 years to the Aurora School system as a dedicated staff member, touching countless lives through her quiet strength, steady guidance, and unwavering belief in the value of learning.
She married the love of her life, Richard Mattmuller, and together they shared 62 years of partnership rooted in faith, service, and community. Donna supported Richard in all his endeavors-whether through his work with Aurora, Hope Lutheran Church, the Dahlia Society, or his years as Mayor and Councilman. Their shared commitment helped shape Aurora's growth and spirit for generations.
A lifelong and charter member of Hope Lutheran Church, Donna served in numerous roles over the years, always striving to grow as a Christian servant of God. Her faith was quiet but steadfast, reflected in the way she lived and cared for others.
Donna's dedication to her community was recognized through the Aurora Historical Society Lifetime Service Award in 2012 and the Aurora School Foundation "Friends of the Schools" Award, honored at the local, state, and national levels.
Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She nurtured her children-Ann (Tony, deceased), Karrenbrock, Dave (Dianna, deceased) Mattmuller, Steve (Michele) Mattmuller and Jack (Elaine) Mattmuller-with patience and devotion. She cherished her grandchildren Paula Broderick, Jonathan, Michael (deceased) Mattmuller, Jacqueline Mattmuller, John Matt Mattmuller, and Kate Allen, and delighted in her 11 great‑grandchildren. She is also the dear sibling of her sister Jane.
Donna will be remembered as a quiet, steady presence whose life was defined by service, faith, and love. Her legacy lives on in the generations she raised, the students she guided, and the community she strengthened.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Hope Lutheran Church, 456 South Chillicothe Rd., Aurora, on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 11 am - 12 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at 12pm. Interment will immediately follow at Aurora City Cemetery.
