Portage County memorial site to honor veterans with walkway bricks

- Wendy DiAlesandro ,

Residents who wish to honor a veteran have until Aug. 13 to purchase a memorial brick to be placed at the Portage County memorial site, located at the county courthouse.

The courthouse memorial site contains memorial bricks that can be personalized to honor a service person or veteran, and are available in two sizes:  8” x 8” ($100)  or 12” x 12” ($250).

Order forms with instructions are available on line at https://www.portagecounty-oh.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif3706/f/uploads/veterans_order_form.pdf or in person at the Portage County Commissioners’ Office, 449 South Meridian Street, Ravenna from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Contact the Commissioners’ Office at 330-297-3600 with any questions.

The Portage County Board of Commissioners will host their annual Veterans Day event on Nov. 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the memorial site, offering residents an opportunity to come together as a community to thank veterans and to honor the men and women of our armed forces.
