Open mics for the week of Sept. 4

- Jeff Gambone

The week of Sept. 4 brings us nine different choices for open mic entertainment. It doesn’t matter where you live in the Summit/Portage County area; there is an open mic that you can attend. Come out and play or listen to this unique part of the area music scene.

We start off the week in downtown Kent on Sunday, Sept. 4 at the Euro Gyro found at 107 S. Depeyster St. The Host is Nick Fleming. The action starts at 8 p.m. This open mic is for stand-up comedy and music (comedy seven minutes and music gets three songs). There will be plenty of food and drink is available. Always a great night of music and laughs.

Also on Sunday, we have an open mic at the Bailey Road Tavern with new hosts, the Blue Moondogs. They have food and drink specials, patio seating and a very chill vibe. The address is 2920 Bailey Rd, Cuyahoga Falls. This open mic starts at 9 p.m. for all the night owls out there and will go until 2:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, travel a little bit west to Akron (1947 W. Market St.) for the open mic night at
the Mercedes Tavern hosted by John Markovich. This event begins at 7 p.m. with signups at 6:30 p.m. Great atmosphere with good music and friends to meet or make.

Also on Tuesday is the monthly open mic at the Kent Lanes in Kent (1524 S. Water St.) where your hosts Jake and Jeff will greet you. This is a fun open mic with great food and drink along with great music and great community of old and new friends. Open mic begins at 7 p.m. and ends around 9:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, travel to 3069 Houston Rd. for the open mic night at the Houston Pub with your host Vince Paparella. Open mic starts at 7 p.m.

Also on Wednesday, come on out to the open mic at West Main St. Winery, Brewery & Cider House in downtown Ravenna with Miss Frankie as your host. The winer is located at 234 W. Main St, Ravenna. This fun starts a little earlier, at 6 p.m.

On Thursday at the Divine Restaurant found at 2752 Hudson Dr., Cuyahoga Falls is an open mic hosted by Landon Kearns. The fun starts at 8 p.m. Food, spirits and music are all available. Please check this one out.

Also on Thursday head to 584 W. Tuscarawas St. in Barberton for open mic night at the Kave Coffee Bar, where it is youth and novice friendly. Your hosts are Christopher Haught and Lexi Haynes. The open mic starts at 6:30 p.m. and goes until 8:30 p.m.

Finally, on Friday, there will be an open mic at the Last Exit Bookstore in downtown Kent (124 E. Main St.). Come on out and be part of the fun with your host Alex Jackson.
