Open mics for the week of April 17, 2022

The week of April 17 brings us six choices for our open mic entertainment.

We start off the week in downtown Kent on Sunday, April 17, at the Euro Gyro located at 107 S. Depeyster St. The Host is Nick Fleming. The action starts at 8 p.m. This open mic is for stand-up comedy and music (comedy, seven minutes and music is three songs). Plenty of food and drink are available.

On Monday, the place to be is Ravenna at 100 E. Main St. for the open mic at Tavern 1888.
The night’s guest host will be a few members of Celtic Rush. Open mic starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. Sign-ups begin at 6:30 p.m. This one fills up early so come early and get your spot.

On Tuesday, travel a little bit to the east in Akron (1947 W. Market St.) for the open mic night at the Mercedes Tavern hosted by John Markovich. This event begins at 7 p.m. with signups at 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, come back to downtown Kent at the Venice Café located at 163 W. Erie St. The acoustic open mic is hosted by BC Hudson. Food is available through the Erie Street Kitchen.

Also, on Wednesday is the open mic at Jilly’s located at 111 N. Main St. in Akron, Hosted by Jen Maurer and Mike Lenz. Jilly’s Music Room is a live music and entertainment venue with a full-service bar and kitchen, located in the Northside District of downtown Akron.

Finally on Thursday at the Divine Restaurant located at 2752 Hudson Drive in Cuyahoga Falls is an open mic hosted by Landon Kearns. The fun starts at 8 p.m. Food, spirits and music are all available. Please check this one out.

Rootstown’s annual “Light It Up” event will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 by Town Hall at 3988 State Route 44 and the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ at 4022 State Route 44, right in the center of town.

Free health fair in Ravenna on Nov. 5

Free snacks, blood pressure checks, flu shots and more will be available at a health fair set for 4-6 p.m. Nov. 5 at 575 Lake St., Ravenna.

Paris Township’s Trick-or-Treat will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1. Trunk-or-Treat will be at the same time at the Shearer Community Center at 9355 Newton Falls Rd.
