Letter to the editor: Well-funded schools benefit the whole community

- Letter to the editor ,

Editor’s note: The Portager publishes letters to the editor from the community. The opinions expressed are published not because they necessarily reflect those of the publication but because we feel they contribute meaningfully to the local discourse on matters of public interest.

An enduring virtue of the cities, towns, and villages across America is the willingness of their voters to tax themselves to support their schools. Without such support, financial and otherwise, a community’s schools cannot reach their full potential to benefit each year’s students.

And so it is for Ravenna.

And it is also true across America and in Ohio and at Ravenna that strong schools are a necessary ingredient for strong communities.

As a beneficiary of the Ravenna School System, like many in my family for many generations, I urge you to vote November 5 in favor of the 8.31-mill School Levy and to encourage others to join you.

With sincere affection for my hometown and respect for its institutions that make Ravenna a strong and durable community,

Don M. Wilson, III
