On Sept. 30 my wife and I attended the “Meet The Candidates” forum in Brimfield. I was impressed with a few of the candidates and not impressed with a few of the candidates. And one or two candidates were absent.
Some candidates for the offices of trustee came well prepared to address past and present issues and what might be happening in the future. Some of the candidates expressed discontent with issues around the township both past and present. A few candidates want Brimfield to remain a rural community in these changing times. To those candidates who were not prepared I have to wonder why they are running and how they would perform. To those candidates who expressed discontent with past issues it may be wise to remember there are committees that approved those issues not just one person. I am positive that details were thoroughly discussed.
We have two individuals running for Township Fiscal Officer. One candidate has a wealth of experience and knowledge in financial matters who has experienced past hardships in the entrepreneurial field. The other candidate has virtually no financial experience or accounting studies. Plus, this person’s father is running for a trustee position! Personally that throws a red flag!
Brimfield sits on the major intersection of I-76 and SR-43. There is immense traffic flow from all directions. Not to mention Tallmadge Road which also is heavily traveled. We can use this to our advantage and receive those tax dollars and the business or we can ignore it and lose out. It is up to us! We have to be wise in our choices to confront the future without cutting off the future. Be wise in your choices.
