County roundup: Vets families will have to pay for new banners in Edinburg

- Roger Gordon

Rootstown

Gerland Circle in Rootstown will be getting paved, while West Lynn Road, Irving Road and several other roads will be getting chipped and sealed.

Work on the pickleball courts/basketball court at Rootstown Community Park continues. The basketball hoops have been installed, the first coat of sealant has been applied to the courts and the painting of the courts should be done any day. Fencing will then be installed around the courts. The courts should be completed by the end of September.

Edinburg

The Edinburg Township Trustees passed a resolution that, as the banners honoring veterans up along the township’s roads deteriorate, those veterans’ families will be responsible for paying the money to replace them.

“We provide the brackets and will continue to make the banners,” township Trustee Chris Diehl said. “The banners haven’t been up long enough yet to really start deteriorating. We wanted to fix the problem before we had a problem.”
