The 11th annual Rootstown Youth Football & Cheerleading Pig Roast will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Randolph Knights of Columbus Hall at 25 Teed Dr. The night will include a gun raffle, a 50/50 raffle, a Chinese auction, live auctions, side boards, side games and a liquor bar. Tickets are $40 and include drinks, dinner, door prizes and a chance to win a gun! Tips are encouraged at the liquor bar.

The Rootstown Sports Boosters held their annual golf outing Aug. 4 at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield. The event supported all sports at Rootstown High School. Attendees enjoyed a steak dinner, and prizes were awarded. The event was sold out.

The Rootstown Bakery opened Aug. 1 at 4081 State Route 44 (Prospect St.), Unit B, in the vicinity of Romeo’s Pizza, Subway and Dunkin’ Donuts.

Paris

The bridge on Newton Falls Road will be closed again in spring 2026. It will be completely replaced. The project is expected to be complete in fall 2026.

The Paris Township Trustees are in the process of getting bids for a ditching project in LaBelle Heights in which all of the drainage will be redone.

The second annual township craft show will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Shearer Community Center at 9355 Newton Falls Rd. To be a vendor, call the Paris Township Fire Department at 330-358-2401.

Edinburg

Edinburg received its new pickup truck for the fire department to haul excess equipment and transport extra people to and from a fire scene. The township also received its new small dump truck to be used on the roads and in Edinburg Cemetery.

“They were both put into service about three weeks ago,” township Vice Chair Chris Diehl said.

Around Edinburg: Back to school and a special announcement

Several students from Southeast High School’s band and choir recently participated in the All-Ohio State Fair Band and Choir during the Ohio State Fair. Five of the choir members were also chosen to be Scarlet Singers and opened for the band Foreigner. Several alumni also made it back to perform with the band and choir as well.
