Around Garrettsville: Summer events on their way

- Jackie Loreta-Rinearson

On May 10, the James A. Garfield Track and Field athletes hosted their first meet in more than 20 years. After a long time coming, the Track and Field Complex was opened and celebrated with a ribbon cutting.

The Garrettsville Farmers Market is just around the corner. The market opens June 5 and runs through Aug. 21. The hours of operation are 4 to 7 p.m. and once again will be on Main Street in Garrettsville.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Anthony Hejl for repairing/replacing our book corner. Kelly Zander found the book corner on Main Street in much need of repair. Instead of ripping it out, she sprang into action and with the talent and donations of Anthony Hejl, brought life back into it. The book corner is back functioning as our favorite take a book, leave a book location.

The Sip n Shop on Main is closing in fast — July 26 (the fourth Saturday in July) from noon to 6 p.m. on Main Street in Downtown Garrettsville.

The wineries will line the center of Main Street while our artisans decorate the sides. We are happy to announce this year’s wineries: LaLeure Vineyards, Fiesty Broad, It’s your Winery, Salvage Winery, West Main Street Winery, and Winery at Versailles.
